Kaufman, Alvin S., composer; b. Wilkes-Barre, Pa., July 2, 1910. ASCAP 1940. Educ: Wilkes-Barre High School; St. Thomas Preparatory School (pre-med), Scranton. Largely self-educated in music. Composed and wrote special material for George Price, Rubinoff, and Chevalier; then composed Belmont Varieties, musical revue; co-composer first Radio City Music Hall musical production. First composition, "Pick a Chicken," used in Vernon Castle's exhibition dance.
